PhD in Ecology since 1988. Director and head of the Department of Evolutionary Neuroethology at the Max Planck Institute of Chemical Ecology in Jena since 2006. Vice President of the Max Planck Society since 2014. Main research interests are insect olfactory guided behaviour, insect olfactory function and the evolution of arthropod olfaction.
